Postback URLs are essential for tracking conversions and attributing them to specific marketing campaigns. If you are running an affiliate marketing program or using a tracking platform to measure the success of your marketing campaigns, you will need to install a Postback URL on your Shopify store. This URL sends conversion data back to the affiliate network or tracking platform, allowing you to measure the effectiveness of your campaigns and optimize them for better results. In this guide, we will provide step-by-step instructions on how to install a Postback URL on Shopify for conversion tracking.

Shopify Step by Step Postback URL Installation

  1. Log in to your Shopify account.

  2. From your Shopify dashboard, navigate to the “Settings” tab on the bottom left-hand side of the screen.

  3. Click on “Online Store” from the dropdown menu.

  4. Click on “Preferences.”

  5. Scroll down to the “Google Analytics” section and leave it blank since we're not using it in this case.

  6. Click on “Save” to save your changes.

  7. Navigate to the “Sales Channels” tab.

  8. Click on “Online Store” and then click on “Themes”.

  9. Click on “Actions” and then click on “Edit code”.

  10. Find the “theme.liquid” file and click on it to open it.

  11. Paste your postback URL code into the head section of the “theme. liquid” file. The code you should paste is:

<script>

var postbackUrl = "https://analytics.trafficroots.com/tracking/action.json?token=12345&event=0&price=1.23";

var img = new Image();

img.src = postbackUrl;

</script>

Save the changes to the “theme.liquid” file.

  1. Test your postback URL by making a purchase on your website and checking that the conversion tracking is working correctly in your affiliate network or tracking platform.

  2. That's it! Your postback URL should now be installed on Shopify for conversion tracking.
